Clay Light Sound
collaborative live performances
Clay Light Sound is an ongoing project resulting from a collaboration between the two artists Jacob Bartmann and Zekő Sebesy. The artists met through an Austrian exchange program between art universities that focused on sustainable, transformative art production. Visual artist Jacob Bartmann and musician Zekő Sebesy jointly presented the live performance Clay Light Sound as part of Arts of Change on January 28, 2023, at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. A performance of a modified version of the piece, featuring percussionist David Prkno, took place on November 16, 2023, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
The project is continuously evolving, and thanks to the two artists’ thirst for research, new collaborative approaches are constantly being discovered.
In collaboration with Zekő Sebesy, Bartmann is currently working with a lightbox and liquid clay slip. Image-making with this specially developed tool operates through its engagement with both body and environment. The physically performative act merges with a process of trace production, bringing together gestures that oscillate between the scale of the world and that of the body.
